Overview

Description of the Event: The Central Florida region experienced a record setting 75 million annual visitors in 2018, an increase from the previous year of 4.2 percent.  What are the impacts of these visitors on our transportation system? How do we plan multimodal transportation facilities for them through our regional planning process?

These and more questions will be discussed by a panel of public and private sector professionals that will focus on the impacts of tourism on Central Florida’s transportation network and how visitor needs are accommodated by the public and private sectors. Bring your questions about how future planning efforts will address the millions of tourists that come to the region annually.

The format of the session will be a panel discussion with a brief introduction from each of the panelists about their agency and their stakeholder needs followed by a question and answer session. The panelists will include Gary Huttman, AICP, Executive Director of Metroplan Orlando; Tiffany Homler Hawkins, Chief Administrative Officer at LYNX; John McReynolds, Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Universal Theme Parks; Greg Moore, Master Planner Principal with Walt Disney Imagineering; and Daryl Cronk, Senior Director of Market Research and Insights at Visit Orlando. The panel discussion will be facilitated by Billy Hattaway, Transportation Director of the City of Orlando who will address various transportation topics including economic impacts of tourism, regional demands on the transportation systems, regional rail connections, multimodal connectivity to airports, first and last mile connectivity to tourist destinations, impacts of tourists on local networks and future planning initiatives. The attendees will also be able to ask questions directly to the panelists about their topics of interest.
