Inspiration
Our keynote speakers will help us explore how we connect to each other. Violinist and opening speaker Vijay Gupta founded the nonprofit Street Symphony to offer musical engagement and education to homeless and incarcerated communities in Los Angeles. Conference closer Brett Culp is a documentary filmmaker and founder of a community-empowering nonprofit, the Rising Heroes Project.

- The Welcome Reception on Saturday is your chance to make new acquaintances and reconnect with old friends. APA will provide finger food and beverages. This event is included with registration.
- When you register for NPC19, reserve your spot for Monday's Awards Luncheon and get ready to celebrate planning greatness. Tickets are free but required to attend this popular event.
- Join us for Happy Hour Monday evening in the Exhibit Hall. Explore the exhibits, learn from exhibitors, and tour the Tech Zone with your new conference connections. AICP

Aspiring AICP members
Learn about certification and the candidate program — On Saturday, "Put Your Career on the Fast Track" will cover the career benefits of AICP certification and explain the AICP Candidate Pilot Program's alternative path to certification. Participants who graduate from PAB-accredited planning programs may take the AICP Certification Exam while "school learning" is still fresh and before they earn professional planning experience.

Prepare for the exam — If you plan to take the AICP Certification Exam soon, attend "AICP Exam Prep" on Monday. Fill your study kit with insights from experienced AICP members and informed analysis of the exam's five sections. This session, plus your planning education, will position you well for exam success and AICP certification.

Earn Certification Maintenance credits — AICP Candidates must earn and track 16 Certification Maintenance credits, including credits in law and ethics, before applying for certification. It will be easy at NPC19 — read on for details.

CM at NPC19
NPC19 offers hundreds of CM-eligible sessions on site, plus post-conference access to recordings and presentations via APA Learn.

"Gentrification and the Law" (Sunday, 10:30 a.m.)
Explore historic trends and patterns in gentrification, legal tools that may be used to slow or mitigate its impacts, and constitutional constraints on local governments' anti-gentrification actions. CM | 1.50 | Law
"Ethics Cases of the Year" (Sunday, 8:30 a.m.)
Several ethics scenarios illustrate real-world applications of the AICP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. Interactive discussions of relevant principles and rules of conduct for each scenario will be excellent preparation for the AICP Certification Exam. CM | 1.50 | Ethics

Planning Leadership Institute (Sunday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.)
This full day of intensive training and professional reflection will develop skills and attitudes required to exercise leadership, influence stakeholders, face challenges, and shape your legacy. Connect with peers in a dynamic, creative workshop and leave with a plan for leading change in your community. CM | 8.0
Planning Management Institute (Sunday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.)
If you now or soon will manage a public- or private-sector planning department, this lively, hands-on workshop is for you. Network with peers and learn best practices from experts. Topics range from coaching to conflict resolution, organizational politics, managing change, and more. CM | 8.0

Job Fair and Career Networking Power Hour
Looking for a new job? Go to the Job Fair on Saturday to discuss open positions with employers in small-group information sessions.

A professional photographer will take free headshots suitable for resumes, LinkedIn, and My APA in the Career Zone.

Resume Clinic
Get individualized feedback, insights, and tips in a 20-minute review of your resume conducted by a fellow member, private- or public-sector hiring manager, AICP Fellow, or APA division leader. Advance registration is required and will open on March 11.

Earn $100 as a conference volunteer
APA student members who work a five- to eight-hour shift at the conference earn $100. Interested? After you register for NPC19, APA will email an invitation to volunteer. Shifts are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Tip: Register by February 13 and your net cost will be only $25!

Community Planning Workshop
If you have experience in economic development, coalition building, displacement prevention, or public finance, you're invited to participate in Saturday's pro bono planning workshop in Oakland Chinatown.
