Supreme Court's Knick decision overturns precedent
On June 21, by a 5–4 vote, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Knick vs. Township of Scott that a property owner can file a takings claim in federal court without first pursuing state litigation, reversing a precedent set in 1985.
