This model document provides comprehensive plan and zoning language to help cities protect and expand community gardens. Its model comprehensive plan includes language for goals, objectives, policies, and actions. It also offers two options for model zoning language establishing community gardens as an approved use. The first establishes community gardens as an approved use in enumerated districts, and the second establishes a separate subcategory or subdistrict of open space dedicated for the use of community gardens.
