This briefing paper, produced as part of the Growing Food Connections project, offers an overview of regulatory and programmatic approaches to protect farmland from non-farm development. It explores threats to farmland and describes promising practices in preventing farmland loss. It also provides sample comprehensive plan policies from several communities addressing farmland protection.
