Tools for Planners to Address Health
Funded by the National Center for Environmental Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, APA has developed the following professional development guidance to enhance health-oriented planning.
Planners are beginning to integrate health into planning practice and decisions, but few tools exist to help track progress. Based on the research, the following five domains were identified to support planners efforts to improve health: 1) active living, 2) healthy food system, 3) environmental exposure, 4) emergency preparedness, and 5) social cohesion.
