Introduction
The City of DeFuniak Spring is requesting statements of qualification proposals from qualified consultants to provide professional planning services associated with updating the City's Land Development Code. The updated Land Development Code should incorporate recommendations included in the 2010 Comprehensive Plan.
Firms interested in this project are advised to carefully review the information outlined in the RFQ and respond accordingly. All submissions must be received no later than February 7, 2025. Specific instructions regarding submission requirements are included in this RFQ.
Background Information/Community Profile
DeFuniak Springs is located in the panhandle of Florida, approximately 27miles north of the Gulf of Mexico. DeFuniak Springs has a population of approximately 6,300 and is increasingly growing.
The City's current Land Development Code was originally adopted in 1971 and has been amended several times over the years. With the expected growth of the community a revised Land Development Code that encompasses current best practices is required. There are several areas that are conflicting or contain insufficient detail. The requested scope of work will be outlined below in the RFQ.
Project Goals
It is the intention of the City of DeFuniak Spring to procure the professional services of a qualified consultant to update the City's Land Development Code in accordance with current planning practices and the 2010 Comprehensive Plan. This will involve working through a collaborative process that involves a variety of stakeholders. The process will culminate in a fully updated Land Development Code.
