This individual should be a strong communicator capable of building relationships and effectively conveying complex information. Additionally, we seek a problem solver who can identify and implement creative solutions, demonstrating a passion for public service and a commitment to positively impacting the community.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong knowledge of municipal organization and administration. This individual should understand the development and construction process, encompassing long-range and current planning, engineering, and building expertise. Their experience should demonstrate a proven track record of success in managing complex projects and championing diverse teams within a development-related field. Equally important, this candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, crucial for influential partnerships with city officials, staff, and external stakeholders.

- Qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule an initial interview by Monday, December 11, 2024
- Initial Interviews (either virtual or in-person) will take place between December 16 and 18, 2024.
- Panel Interviews are tentatively planned for January 2 through the 7th.
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Leading and motivating a team of dedicated professionals in the Planning, Building, and Engineering divisions.
- Providing strategic direction and vision to align the department with the City's goals, working closely with the Community Development Director and division managers.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, to ensure compliance with city ordinances and regulations and elevate our service delivery to our customers.
- Managing budgets, contracts, and other financial resources, ensuring effective and efficient use of taxpayer dollars.
- Collaborating with other City departments and external stakeholders to achieve common goals and address community needs and lead and guide special projects and initiatives.
- Fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Community Development Department.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range is $128,641.50 - $142,935/year.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Public Administration or closely related field. Master's degree preferred. Eight (8) years progressively responsible experience in development related field, including a minimum of two (2) years in a key management/supervisory role. Possession or the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
