The Town of Buena Vista is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and professional individual to join our Planning Department as a Planner I/Planner II, depending upon your experience.

The Town of Buena Vista, located in scenic Chaffee County, is a hidden gem cradled by the Collegiate Peaks and Arkansas River. With breathtaking 14,000-foot peaks as your backdrop, Buena Vista offers abundant recreational opportunities including hiking, biking, fishing and world-class whitewater rafting. Buena Vista is home to a vibrant downtown with unique shops and eateries and a welcoming and laid-back atmosphere. Buena Vista has a population of approximately 3,150 residents and is in an exciting and dynamic period of growth with a very active planning department.

The Planning Department plays a critical role in guiding the responsible land use and growth of Buena Vista. The Planner I/II will contribute valuable expertise to both current and long-term planning projects, ensuring the town's continued development aligns with community needs and goals.

As a Planner I/II, you will manage the review of development projects, including subdivision plats, site plans, and special use permits. Additional responsibilities include assisting applicants and the public with permitting inquiries, coordinating land use applications, and overseeing planning consultant and pre-application meetings.
