The purpose of the class is to research, analyze, and summarize data to support planning staff. The class is responsible for collecting and analyzing data, preparing reports and other documentation, maintaining charts and files, and assisting with planning inquiries. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed; develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Requires minimum of a bachelor's degree or education and training equivalent to four years of college education in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Geography, Social Sciences, Business or a related field. Generally, one (1) to three (3) years' experience in responsible work in the areas of comprehensive planning, zoning, building, permitting, development. Two (2) years previous municipal government experience preferred, but not required. ArcMap, CADD and Flood Zone experience preferred, but not required. Will require occasionally working outside regular business hours.
Must be ready to work in a team structured/oriented environment, understand the importance and impact of statues, codes, plans and verbal statements; and assist with preparation and organization of public hearings.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATES:
Requires a valid State of Florida driver license and satisfactory driving record as a condition of initial and continued employment.
AICP credentials preferred.
