The City of Aspen is seeking an enthusiastic professional to join our team as a Planner I- Historic Preservation. This position works with other members of the Planning and Zoning land use team (12 members in total) under the larger umbrella of Aspen's Community Development department (Planning, Building, Environmental Health and Sustainability). The Planner I – Historic Preservation position performs a variety of complex technical planning duties with an emphasis on historic preservation review and provides support and service to the public and Community Development Department consistent with the organization's values and mission statement. This includes participating in zoning support, planner of the day duties, planning caseload, building permit review, and other special projects.

Supervision Exercised and Received: Works under the general direction of the Historic Preservation Officer.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in land use planning, historic preservation, architecture, urban design, public administration, or a related field.

Experience: One to three years of professional experience in a relevant setting sufficient to demonstrate success in Planner I position. Experience working on projects that involve historic resources. Experience reading architectural drawings and plans. (A Master's degree in planning, architecture, history, or related field may be considered in lieu of professional experience.)
