The Director of the Department of Planning and Zoning provides overall leadership and strategic direction for the City's land use planning and redevelopment processes. Reporting to a Deputy City Manager, the Director organizes and directs the review of development proposals, citywide and small area plan development, historic preservation, zoning administration and inspection, demographics/census analysis, as well as special studies on issues such green building policies, public school enrollment projections.

Master's degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, engineering, urban economics, sociology, or public administration; experience and training in the arena of urban redevelopment planning and historic preservation; extensive experience in city planning in complex urban environments at a level equivalent to Planning/Zoning Division Chief; professional certification.
