Full-time

DOES THIS DESCRIBE YOU?

You're a seasoned environmental acoustics professional who's passionate about improving the soundscape of California's communities. You thrive in technically complex spaces — whether you're modeling construction or operational noise using SoundPlan or RCNM or guiding QA/QC processes to ensure accuracy and clarity. You're experienced in CEQA and NEPA noise assessments and know how to apply federal and state methodologies, including FTA, FHWA, and Caltrans guidance. You're energized by collaboration, ready to lead, and enjoy helping others grow their technical capabilities. If you're excited to bring your expertise to a forward-thinking, mission-driven team, we'd love to hear from you.

Ascent is seeking a full-time Senior Noise Specialist, Technical Leader to join our AGENTs (Air Quality/Greenhouse Gas/Energy/Noise/Transportation) team in any of our offices: Berkeley, Irvine/Orange County, Lake Tahoe, Sacramento, or San Diego. In a typical week in this role, you might:

  • Independently conduct construction and operational noise and vibration modeling using spreadsheet-based models, RCNM, TNM, and SoundPlan.
  • Conduct, review, and provide QA/QC feedback on noise modeling from spreadsheet models, SoundPlan, RCNM, and TNM.
  • Lead and direct marketing and business development pursuits, including developing capture strategies to help grow Ascent's noise services.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals for midsized projects and assist with proposals for larger projects, providing technical input, contributing to proposal writing through scope and cost development, identifying opportunities, and engaging with proposal/interview teams.
  • Collaborate with the AGENTs team to provide mentorship, build technical capabilities and services, ensure high-quality deliverables, and develop internal training materials and modeling protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with Ascent's Environmental Practice Group to ensure timely delivery of technical work meeting Ascent's quality standards.
