Executive Officer

Salary range: $175,000 to $225,000 DOQ

Monterey County LAFCo is seeking a strategic, politically astute Executive Officer to guide complex growth decisions that will shape the region for generations. This is a high-impact leadership role serving as chief advisor to the Commission and leading a small, professional team responsible for annexations, Municipal Service Reviews, Sphere of Influence updates, and regional coordination.

You'll navigate major annexation proposals, balance housing needs with farmland preservation, and ensure decisions are grounded in law, fiscal responsibility, and long-term community benefit. The environment is dynamic and highly visible; success requires integrity, strong public communication skills, and the ability to stand firm on policy while building trust across diverse perspectives.
