NVCOG seeks candidates for the position of Senior Housing Planner to join the agency's Community Planning Department.
The ideal candidate has a passion for housing as a tool to strengthen community resiliency. This individual will lead planning efforts in the region as they relate to the development, financing, and preservation of housing in the region.
A key function of this role is to develop and implement the region's Housing Growth Plan which will guide housing production and preservation goals in NVCOG municipalities over the next five years.
Typical assignments will include:
- Leading the preparation of the Regional Housing Growth Plan in accordance with the requirements outlined in 2025 Special Session PA 25-1 and in close consultation with local and state agencies and officials including municipal planners and elected officials.
- Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to craft research deliverables that can be shared with a variety of audiences.
- Monitoring and reviewing regulations and policies related to housing and development and making recommendations on their implementation.
- Providing technical assistance to member municipalities to develop plans, policies, and zoning regulations to achieve their housing goals.
- Researching and preparing reports, studies, and presentations on best practices pertaining to housing market trends, public policies and programs, development barriers, and the like.
- Working in partnership with our member municipalities, the development community, community-based organizations, academic institutions, planning and zoning commissioners, and others active in the housing field.
- Supervising the Community and Housing Planner and occasionally supervising other NVCOG staff on a project basis.
- Remaining informed about current housing-related planning issues, resources, and programs.

The salary range is between $85,000 and $95,000 based on experience and qualifications.
