Downtown Revitalization
The city’s community development code includes a Downtown Redevelopment Design District (§50.05.004). Its standards address building design and site planning, parking requirements, view corridors, and landscaping.
Environmentally Sensitive Areas
The city’s community development code includes overlay districts to protect and conserve sensitive lands (§50.05.010). Overlay types include resource protection, resource conservation, and habitat benefit areas. It establishes a development review process, standards by district type, and incentives for using habitat friendly development practices.
Solar Energy
The city's community development code requires solar site design for new residential subdivisions (Sec. 50.06.007.1), protects solar access through standards limiting shade cast by single-family homes on adjacent properties (Sec. 50.06.007.2), and enables solar access permits (Sec. 50.07.004.9).
This code also grants a limited exception to district height limits for rooftop solar energy systems (Sec.50.04.003.4).
