Solar Energy

The Infrastructure, Resources, and Conservation element of the city's General Plan includes a goal of reducing the total and per capita amount of energy used in the city (Goal IRC-4), with a policy of maximizing renewable energy use through strategies such as developing a comprehensive incentive and assistance program for renewable energy for city residents, creating incentives for solar hot water heaters, and incentives for businesses to install solar panels on their rooftops to sell energy to utilities (IRC-4.4).
