Solar Energy

The county's comprehensive plan addresses solar energy under Goal 5, Natural Resources, Scenic and Historic Areas, and Open Spaces, in a section on Energy. The plan notes that solar power is an important form of energy for individual residences (p. 37). It sets a policy of protecting existing energy sources and allowing development of new sources in appropriate locations (Policy 12), with a subpolicy of allowing small-scale solar and wind power systems as alternative energy sources (12.2).
