Accessory Dwelling Units

The town’s comprehensive plan includes two specific policy recommendations that support the development of accessory dwelling units (ADUs). The Population, Households, and Housing section of the plan acknowledges that ADUs represent a strategy for integrating student rentals into established residential areas (I.4.A). This section also recommends maintaining and providing information to the public about the town’s ADU regulations and updating those regulations to permit detached ADUs as a strategy for increasing the supply of affordable housing (I.5.C).
