Accessory Dwelling Units

The town’s land use code permits internal, attached, and detached accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by right in all districts that permit single-family dwellings, subject to use specific standards (§18-138). These standards address unit size, maximum occupancy, water and sewer access, owner occupancy, permits, parking, lot size, and setbacks.
