Tiny Houses and Micro-Apartments
The city’s land development code defines and regulates micro-apartments as a distinct type of dwelling. It defines "micro-efficiency multifamily dwelling unit" as a dwelling unit with a total floor area of 400 ft2 or less (§36-321). Micro-efficiency multifamily dwelling units are subject to reduced off-street parking requirements (§36-455).
Food Systems | Urban Agriculture
The city's zoning ordinance addresses urban agriculture. It provides supplemental standards for community gardens (§36-470). This requires a no-cost permit. Performance standards address accessory structures, setbacks, on-site sales, hours of operation, signage, odors, maintenance, compost, lighting, noise, and parking. Community gardens without retail sales are permitted in residential, office/institutional, and some commercial districts; commercial gardens with onsite sales are permitted in some commercial and industrial districts (§36-380.2 et al.).
The code defines "commercial gardens" and "community gardens" (§36-321).
