The city’s zoning code establishes a special overlay district to protect established neighborhoods from incompatible development (§17.09). The Residential Infill Overlay District applies to older areas of the city that do not have historic preservation protections. Under these provisions, all infill is subject to standards for front yards; house orientation and side yards; alleys, parking and services; scale, mass and foundation height; porches; windows and doors; siding materials; additions, and multi-unit housing.
