The city’s comprehensive plan includes several policy recommendations that support community gardens and urban farms. The Agriculture Resources element discusses urban agriculture and community gardening, and includes an objective to protect existing community gardens in the city and establish additional areas for new gardens (Objective 4). Related policies include exploring publicly owned garden establishment, expanding gardens with demand, and establishing "area" gardens intended to serve residents within bicycling distance (0.5 mile).
