This briefing paper focuses on the need for autonomous vehicle policy development to have an intentional focus on equity so that it does not exacerbate existing barriers or increase inequality. It outlines cost, access, public health, and employment as measures for the impact of autonomous and electric vehicles on social equity and identifies potential solutions for governments and transit agencies regarding these areas.
