Integrated Water Resource Managment

This statute establishes a comprehensive water supply planning process for the development of local, regional, and state water supply plans. It was developed by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality to implement the mandate of Senate Bill 1221 adopted in 2003.

This regulation protects the health, safety and welfare of citizens by requiring local and regional water supply planning. It establishes a basic set of criteria for local or regional water supply plan with respect to the need for environmental protection, future growth and adequate supply for the citizens.
