This briefing paper reviewed 15 county-adopted right-to-farm ordinances and their implementation to determine the effectiveness of this tool in protecting agricultural operations and reducing farm-urban edge conflicts. The study found that specific disclosure requirements and their implementation were the most effective element of these ordinances and notes that they can be an important part of an overall strategy for achieving a more peaceful coexistence of agricultural and urban neighbors.
