This guide, created as part of Lancaster County’s comprehensive planning process, provides information on agricultural zoning districts as mechanisms to help protect agricultural resources and industry. Chapter 2 presents general guidelines for agricultural zoning districts, including development intensity, lot and farm size requirements, and permitted land uses. And chapter 5 offers a model template for an agricultural zoning ordinance with extensive commentary that discusses the regulation of the number and maximum size of lots and dwellings permitted on parent tracts.
