Farmland Protection | Food Systems

This functional plan includes a goal to increase the acreage of farmland protected in the county. It notes that approximately 50,000 acres of farmland were protected from conversion to nonagricultural uses and sets a goal for the preservation of an additional 20,000 acres - 10,000 acres through the county’s farmland preservation program and 10,000 acres through various other programs, including state programs and transfer of development rights (TDR).
