This report discusses the intersection between arts and community development. It distinguishes different types of concentrated arts activities, different ways in which arts activities can shape physical space, and social and economic perspectives on the arts as a community development approach. Additionally, it provides a list of challenges and opportunities related to the arts and community work, including overcoming language barriers, incorporating training, identifying funding, and supporting policy that legitimize the arts as a factor that influences community vibrancy.
