Creative Placemaking

This report explores the relationship between creative placemaking and housing and provides examples of how arts and cultural strategies can work together to meet community needs. The first part of the report discusses current conditions, trends, and outlooks that impact housing demand. The second portion focuses on how arts and culture strategies help address issues related to housing, including articulation of conditions through non-verbal and non-analytic strategies, organizing community-based groups, and stabilizing communities that may be vulnerable to displacement. It concludes with implications for practitioners, including policymakers and community organizations, highlighting the role of impact reporting, engaging artists and organizations in communities as partners, and developing long-term relationships to engage in effective creative placemaking.
