The town's comprehensive plan includes a housing plan section that assesses existing and future housing needs in East Greenwich, Rhode Island. It identifies suitable areas for development and includes goals and policies aiming to achieve 10% affordable housing stock and diversify housing options. 

Inclusionary Housing

The town’s comprehensive plan addresses inclusionary housing in its Housing Plan and Affordable Housing Plan chapter. The town has set a goal of achieving at least 10 percent of housing units that are affordable to residents earning at or below 80 percent AMI (Goal H3). Policies for achieving that goal include amending the town’s existing inclusionary zoning ordinance to increase the percentage of affordable units required from 15 to 20 percent (Policy H4).
