This blog post highlights a variety of creative placemaking projects funded through NEA Grants. It describes how Opa-Locka, FL has engaged artists and community members to create activated community spaces, including public art installations, arts micro-enterprises, creating an arts and cultural center, and creating live/work spaces for artists. Additional examples of projects include creating a “Creative Corridor”, transforming underutilized spaces into an “urban art fitness park”, and developing a public open space for community events.
