Social Equity

This article includes anecdotes about working with Mayor Harold Washington of Chicago, demonstrating the importance of equity as a clearly stated political priority. It problematizes the tendency for urban problems to be addressed in a way that reinforces “separate but equal” philosophies and shares lessons learned from a career in equity planning.
