Complete Streets

The city’s comprehensive plan includes a strategy for implementing complete streets. The plan’s Transportation element is rooted in a complete streets/layered network approach.

Historic Preservation

The city’s comprehensive plan contains a historic preservation element. It inventories the city’s historic resources, outlines the current historic preservation program, and identifies ways the program can be improved in terms of administration, identification, management, incentives and benefits, education, and advocacy.

Housing Supply Planning

The city's comprehensive plan includes an update to the urban form, design and development, and housing sections of the One Tacoma Plan. The urban form revision includes goals and policies to support housing supply, choice, and affordability. The design and development revision includes standards for middle housing, pedestrian-oriented design, and historic preservation. Changes to housing include a new housing growth vision that advocates for inclusive, diverse, resilient, and affordable neighborhoods for all.
