This article is a review of affordable housing policies in the United States. It examines how these policies transformed from direct government intervention to public-private partnerships over nearly a century, describes current federal programs, and shares case studies from San Francisco and New York City. It also highlights successful affordable housing programs from Vienna, Singapore, Boulder, and Austin.
