Urban Heat Resilience

The town’s zoning code establishes design standards to address urban heat islands (UHI). It sets off-street and loading area requirements to avoid excessive paved surfaces that contribute to UHI (§30-200) and streetscape buffers requirements to provide shade for streets and sidewalks (§30-205.I).
