About Me

I'm grateful to be working in the field I grew up as a child wanting to be. I'm also grateful for being able to work in a lot of different environments while living my entire adult life in the same city.

Professional Biography

Dharm is a experienced transportation professional whose work experience spans the private, public, quasi-public, and public multilateral sectors where combined he has more than 20 years of professional experience. While the span of his experience includes everything from aviation planning to intelligent transportation systems, his core skillset is in the area of urban and intercity collective transportation with an emphasis on safety and sustainability. As a results oriented professional who has worked on several groundbreaking projects, Dharm takes pride in getting the job done and his track record of accomplishments includes implementation of the first air-rail codeshare in North America using e-ticketing, contribution towards the first Strategic Plan for Amtrak, implementation of a first of its kind study on improving public transport in Cuenca (Ecuador) and successful management of a $1.3 billion Recovery Act grant. More recently, Dharm has been a key player in the federal government's first exercise of direct safety oversight of a rail transit agency, where he currently serves as Deputy Director of FTA's WMATA Safety Oversight Team. Dharm is a member of American Institute of Certified Planners where he holds a advanced specialty certification as a Certified Transportation Planner. He also holds an Envision Sustainability Professional Credential from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure and he is a member of the Rail Transit Systems Committee (AP065) and a former member of the Intercity Passenger Rail Committee (AR010) of the Transportation Research Board. Dharm also holds a Transit Safety and Security Program Certification for Rail (TSSP-Rail) from the Transit Safety Institute of the US Department of Transportation.
