FAICP Statement
Since 1977, Joseph Andrew Pobiner has promoted responsible and sustainable planning principles. Using technology to deliver these principles effectively and efficiently, he has influenced responsible planning in communities throughout the U.S. and internationally, including rapidly growing cities, the first countywide plans in Texas history, and plans for mixed-use destinations in 24 countries worldwide. Mr. Pobiner's approach to master planning embraces unique designs and responsible development patterns which respect local culture. From edge city plans promoting walkable neighborhoods to the creation of vibrant mixed-use urban destinations, he develops creative and responsible solutions to complex challenges. Inducted 2010.
About Me
Joe has been a consulting planner and urban designer for over 40 years. Based in North Texas, he has been a Practice Leader for influential international consultantcies, working on projects across Texas, the US, and globally on 6 continents. His projects encompass multiple markets including Sports & Entertainment, Hospitality, Healthcare, Mixed-Use, Urban Design/Placemaking, Corporate & University Campuses, City & Regional Planning, and many others. Previous projects include three NFL stadiums, new cities in the Middle East and China, and Mixed-Use, Healthcare and Hospitality projects across the US and internationally. These projects have received awards from APA, ASLA, AIA, and ULI. He has served as a Guest Lecturer and Advisory Board Member at Texas A&M University and Ohio State University. He was inducted into the AICP College of Fellows (2010) and was named a Distinguished Alumnus of Ohio State (2012).
Professional Biography
Joe is an Urban Design & Planning consultant, focused on the creation of memorable, sustainable and resilient places in various markets across the United States and globally. As a Practice Leader at leading international design firms (Gensler, HKS, and Perkins Eastman), he has directed projects that improve the physical, natural, and cultural framework of a rapidly- urbanizing planet – from urban interventions (including numerous UNESCO World Heritage sites) to large-scale regional and national projects. These projects span over 32 countries and across 42 US states, and have been recognized by local, state, national and international organizations for their valuable contributions to the natural and built environments.
