Grants for Small Town & Rural Area Projects

Thanks to the generous support of the APA Divisions Council, STaR and the APA Northern New England Chapter have completed on a report of case studies for New Ruralism.

What is New Ruralism?

New Ruralism is a concept that rural communities provide more than food for urbanized areas — they provide small-scale, repeatable, models for planning and programs that focus on growth tied to community character and sustainability. In partnership with the Northern New England Chapter and the Divisions Council, STaR is working to bring these concepts to the national planning dialogue. Past work has highlighted job centers, community capacity building, renewable energy usage, and unique economic development strategies.
