Keep the Momentum Going: NPC26 Recap & Your Next Opportunities with APA
May 14, 2026
Dear Member,
The APA community was absolutely powerful at NPC26 in Detroit! We inspired, learned, and connected with attendees from every state and more than 10 countries. It was also time to celebrate our impact as planners, recognizing how we help our profession succeed, with data-driven expertise and supporting one another, peer to peer. The supportive community of planners that is APA and AICP is truly important to us, and we are excited to continue the momentum from NPC.
AICP Excellence
In Detroit, we honored our newest Class of AICP Fellows, the profession's highest credential and honor. As APA Board Member and recent Fellow inductee Scott Turner, FAICP, PE, noted, "When I meet someone that has the AICP credential, I immediately know something about them. They are always good, honest, decent people, who are working for the greater good." Read more about Scott's career journey and how the AICP credential has helped him along the way.
Don't Lose the Momentum: Your Next Steps with APA
Our opportunity to connect and celebrate our work does not take place exclusively at NPC. APA continues to work for you. Here are three ways to stay engaged and strengthen our profession:
- Join the APA Annual Membership Meeting: Mark your calendar for Thursday, May 28, 3 p.m. CT. This is your chance to hear directly from the Board of Directors and AICP Commission on how we're supporting you and keeping our profession strong.
- Connect with Peers: Utilize the monthly Planner Peer Exchanges. These are dedicated spaces to share experiences, test new approaches, and be supported by your community.
- Attend NPC26 Online: It's not too late to register for NPC26 online. Access top-tier education and insights, connect with your community, and get inspired — all from your office, home, or favorite third place.
We will continue to invest our energy into this incredible planning community.
Thank you for everything you do.
APA President Sue Schwartz, FAICP
AICP President Erin Perdu, AICP
