Planning for Parks in Washington D.C.'s NoMa

About This Episode

The NoMa neighborhood in Washington, D.C., saw a tremendous amount of rapid growth in the last decade. The problem? Almost no land was set aside for parks and publicly accessible space.

Today, leaders from the NoMa Business Improvement District and NoMa Parks Foundation are changing that with the help of engaged residents.

Listen to Robin-Eve Jasper and Stacie West, AICP, as they describe the steps they're taking to establish welcoming, sustainable, beautiful spaces where people can play, refresh, and connect in NoMa, now and in the future — and how it all began with an APA-led Community Assistance Workshop.
